Portrait Bust

This project was my first experience with sculpting from a live model and using ceramics and metal collectively. As I was sculpting, I knew that I wanted to adorn her head with a crown that had a hint of religious influence. The inspiration for this motif stemmed from my study abroad experiences in Italy and my upbringing in the Catholic religion. The crown was created from sheet steel and tact welded together to continue expanding my skills working with metal processes. The use of religious iconography reflects my evolving relationship with faith.
